It has come to my attention that some people are having issues where they lag to the point where they cannot even log in. After some testing and replicating the issue I have found a cause (a single cause, but hopefully the issue can be resolved with this fairly simple fix.
First of all I'll start by saying that the issue is a two part problem, the first being server configuration and the second being client actions/low server population. As some of you know we use a plugin called ptweaks to unload chunks from the server that aren't currently in use (meaning no players are in distance to have them rendered) What this means for the server is less of a load on the memory and less mobs (since the chunks aren't active they generate no monsters or animals) with the mob limiter active as well.
The issue with unloading chunks is that people with large render distances, when venturing into an unloaded area may hit lag spikes, and either accidentally or purposefully disconnect which is where the problems begin. This is usually only the case when you fly into an area at a very high altitude, (or possibly warp into an unloaded area); this is because there are so many chunks to be loaded that your client isn't able to handle it and it slows down and crashes.
Now I'm sure you're all bored by the technical aspect of what's happening so let's get to the "How to deal with it without being tp'd out." the first thing you'll need to do is close out minecraft, and log back in again (NOT into the server, into minecraft) once you've done that go to your video options and set your render distance to tiny and performance to powersaving
The reason for this is so that when you log into the server, you're not struggling to load as many chunks as you previously were. You will still lag a fair amount but you should still be able to manage to login, type in /home and bail from your lag hole.
If not there are a number of staff who can and will gladly help you get out.
Anymore questions or comments send me mail in game, on here, or send me a private chat in game if I'm online.
